The Brothers In Spirit assembled for the very first time at the first-annual Sisters In Spirit vigil on October 4th on the steps of Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario. They joined their sisters in a united stand against the on-going violence facing women in Canada, and in particular, to draw attention about the hundreds of missing and murdered Aboriginal women. The Brothers In Spirit consists of group of men who believe they have a responsibility and role to play in stopping the violence. Their goal is to stand with their sisters in solidarity; to speak out and connect with young men to discuss the role we have as protectors. Since the first vigil, Brothers In Spirit have met regularly in Ottawa and in other locations across Canada, working in partnership with the Sisters In Spirit initiative. The Brothers In Spirit logo was designed by Brad Henry, a member of Brothers In Spirit, along with Christine Moore.
